Who we are
We aim to tell stories that inspire action, not despair. In a storytelling space often weighed down by destruction, we want to create films that leave audiences feeling capable, connected and responsible, rather than overwhelmed. Reef Keepers is a film about community, resilience, and hope, showing that change is a shared effort, not a solo burden.
Our goal is to create a film that makes people feel seen and empowered to take small, meaningful actions—whether it’s engaging in the outdoors, protecting local resources, wearing reef-safe sunscreen, or having honest conversations about mental health. Success means creating a sustainable film that respects our team, our subjects, and the ecosystems we document. We’ll use sustainable practices through the Sustainable Entertainment Alliance to align with our mission of protecting Florida’s coral reef.
As Floridians and environmental storytellers, Natalie and Alyson bring deep connection and curiosity to this project. Natalie’s decade-long collaboration with scientists offers rare insight into their world, especially as they face the loss of their life’s work due to climate change.
Reef Keepers also centers women, both on screen and crewed, amplifying their role in science and solution-making. Our Floridian crew reflects our belief that representation drives change. Through the emotional connections scientists form with coral, we aim to remind us all that hope, like reefs, can be nurtured.
